Ramadan Mubarak

a collaboration with kahani

Hello, Salaam!

Ibrahim & Salma here, we’re so excited to announce our collaboration with KAHANI. For a long time we have wanted to do something special for our couples, something that honors our joint stories and commonalities. We started this business shooting predominantly Muslim weddings, wanting to serve as an asset to our community and provide them with a service that was professional, aesthetic and easy to navigate in a space that had very little structure or understanding for Muslim and/or South Asian weddings. As we grew and branched out into many ethnicities, cultures and religions, there was mutual respect, understanding and fondness between ourselves and our couples. We are proud Muslims and we want to celebrate this blessed time of the year with you all because it means so much to us.

When searching for a small business to partner with, we chose KAHANI, because of our joint love of telling stories through the senses. While we tell your stories through visuals, colors and sound, Urooj tells stories through scent. Kahani is inspired by nature, art, wanderlust, storytelling, and the vibrant cultures around the world. In the Urdu language "kahani" means “story” (کہانی ). Stories have a place in every culture and society and are expressed in many artful ways. They invigorate imagination, passion, innovation and create a sense of comradery. Our ‘Kahani’ shares scent memories, creating a sensory experience that pairs the beauty of humankind and the wonders of our world. As the candle flame kindles, and your own story begins, our mindfully crafted scents take you on a journey of wanderlust right at home.

We knew that this was a collaboration many of you could identify with. We chose the scent Warm Embrace, because it reflected what we saw at every event we shot with you, our couples. Warm embraces between parents, families, cousins, friends, grandparents and an aura of love and warmth that filled the halls with every hug, laugh and kiss.

We set out to make this collaboration very intentional. Many weeks went by talking with Urooj on how we could celebrate in a thoughtful and caring way given the current genocide in Palestine. Urooj was the perfect partner, as she already donates a portion of every quarter’s sales to a nonprofit. Not only was our order with KAHANI benefitting the Palestinian people, but every couple we send to her website would have an opportunity to shop with a percentage of their purchase towards charity.

On behalf of all our couples, we have donated to Heal Palestine, an organization that is established in Gaza and is run by Steve Sosebee the founder of Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF). You can learn more about the organization by visiting their website or instagram. We hope this small gesture will bring blessings upon you and your families.

We are committed to being a business that is for our community. To show our commitment, we have migrated out of Zionist run software; we are moving from PicTime and Honeybook to Pixiset & Studio Ninja. We value your trust and we owe all of our couples transparency. If your gallery is on PicTime, please download your entire album by May 1st, don’t worry we will send emails and reminders.

To everyone who has shot on our team, thank you does not seem like enough. Thank you to colleagues old and new who have helped shaped us, and everyone who has assisted in second shooting with us throughout the years. We could not have built this business without you all.

To our current team, Sarowar and Mushfi, thank you both for your dedication, playfulness and grace. Your energy and creativity propels us through shoot days with beautiful outcomes for our couples. Thank you to our writer for your thoughtful words and wholeheartedness to eternalizing every story through our blog.

Lastly, to the most important people in our lives, our parents and our families. Thank you for your support as we were starting out and as we continue to drag our feet after tiring long days of shooting, with hugs, warm food and encouragement.

Alhamdullilah, All Praise to the Most High, whose bounties are infinite. May Allah (God) continue to bless each of you and shower you all in His Light. May He free the people of Palestine, all oppressed people of the world and bring justice and peace to all of mankind, ameen!
